KB Topic Bitcoin

Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency, developed by Satoshi Nakamoto and considered the mother of all cryptos.

Bitcoin's unique combination of Proof of Work and the blockchain for decentralized consensus and a fully distributed ledger was absolutely revolutionary at the time it was introduced. Although many forms of digital cash were tested before, Bitcoin was the first to offer a completely decentralized ledger where everyone running a node could participate in the P2P network in equal terms and earn some Bitcoins as reward for helping maintain the network (mining).

Eventually, Bitcoin mining became a very profitable endeavor, with thousands of miners racing to produce the fastest mining machines. The result of this race was the introduction of ASIC chips which turned regular CPU mining obsolete. This big shift from individual mining nodes which used computers' CPU's to big mining operations made the cryptocurrency more centralized than Satoshi Nakamoto's original idea meant it to be. Individuals running a full node at home were no longer rewarded for contributing to the network, a fact which turned many away from running full nodes 24 hours a day.

At the time of this writing Bitcoin is still the #1 cryptocurrency in the world in market cap. Although many second and third generation cryptocurrencies promise to take its spot in the future, so far Bitcoin has held strong at the helm of crypto valuation.

BITCOIN HEX ICO Rating, Reviews and Details | ICOholder Select widget Notification icon
Weak progress: Fewer developers In theory, a larger community of developers will try more cool things and get more done than a smaller community. BitcoinHEX by being an ERC20 token gets full advantage of the largest pool of developers in crypto (Ethereum developers), and all of the cool new inventions they create, such as distributed exchanges, atomic swaps, etc  Poor incentive alignment: Free riders You and your team work hard to make something new and cool, to have a whale wake up one day and flash crash the market on you. Why Free loaders suck.  BitcoinHEX "We're all Satoshi" feature which gives all unclaimed coins to people that did claim at 2% a week over 50 weeks means that in less than a year, only truly interested parties will hold the token.  Unfair distribution Should the guy that lives in china with free electricity and nearly free labor available get the majority of all the newly minted coins (inflation) While increasing centralization, and not caring to negotiate with the writers of the software they run (core developers.)  BitcoinHEX is fairly distributed to those that promote it through: the 5% referral hold it, through staking, or help get the project to critical mass and adoption (bonuses for claims and claim size.)

Down 80 Percent, Is It Time to Buy into the Bitcoin Dip
At this time last year, Bitcoin was approaching its all-time high price. However, this year, its price is anything but appealing, down 80 percent since then. The currency has been constantly battered all year and has broken through every resistance level. After the $6,200 support level held for two months, it was breached mid-November and currently, Bitcoin is under $4,000. While a lot of investment has been wiped out, the downward spiral has presented new opportunities. For those that missed out on the 2017 price hike, this seems like the best opportunity to jump in. If Bitcoin hits its former levels, investors could make quite a fortune. However, the currency could also regress further, wiping out billions more.

Bitwise Files for New Bitcoin ETF With SEC - CoinDesk
Crypto startup Bitwise Asset Management has proposed a new bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) that it says would address the regulatory concerns that doomed previous attempts. The company has filed an initial registration form proposing the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF Trust with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The fund would track the Bitwise Bitcoin Total Return Index, which measures the value of bitcoin plus any meaningful hard forks. If the ETF is approved, its shares will be listed on NYSE Arca, which focuses on trading stocks and options (rather than large-cap stocks, which are traded on the New York Stock Exchange).

How To Buy Bitcoins | Bankrate.com
The simplest way to think of bitcoin is as digital cash. When you buy something online, you probably use your credit card. When you use a credit card to buy anything, there is always a record of the purchase. If you use cash to buy a sandwich, there is no record that you made any such purchase and no way trace it back to you. Bitcoin works like cash, but with the advantages of credit cards. You may have heard bitcoin referred to as a cryptocurrency. You likely know what currency means, but might be confused by the crypto part. That refers to cryptography, which secures communications so that outsiders can't read the information being exchanged between various parties. Two years ago, the idea of buying the virtual currency even at that price was laughable. After a rapid rise in value in 2013, the cryptocurrency's value more than halved by mid-2015. Using the app Coinbase, which lets anyone trade bitcoins for a small fee, we decided to find out. A brief warning: If you're going to do this, tell your bank you're about to buy bitcoin.
