Bitcoin Cash is the Real Bitcoin = Blunder; BCH for Payments is a Better Argument
April 03, 2019 1:49 PM TL;DR: Bitcoin Cash (BCH) has had more than its fair share of trials and tribulations, and we?ve made plenty of our own boneheaded blunders too. With the benefit of hindsight, one of our biggest mistakes may have been trying to convince the world that ?Bitcoin Cash is Bitcoin?? or ?BCH is the real Bitcoin.? More Spice: Bitcoin White Paper Visualized I?ve been as much a part of this folly as anyone. In fact, I wrote an article entitled 12 Reasons Bitcoin Cash is the Real Bitcoin. The problem isn?t that those reasons are invalid, but rather that this is the wrong way to persuade people to use and support Bitcoin Cash.

Bitcoin Cash Explodes 50% As Asian Algos Continue Crypto Buying-Spree
April 02, 2019 8:25 PM On this podcast, I rant about the Lyft IPO: how it is being hyped by the media and what retail investors sometimes don't understand about initial public offerings. The pointy shoes in Brussels are working hard to ensure the tensions between the EU member states will only rise. Warren Buffett was looking at silver much earlier than the Hunt brothers did. Update (1950ET): The third leg of today's massive surge in cryptocurrencies has lifted Bitcoin Cash up over 50% on the day, Bitcoin and Ethereum up around 20% and Litecoin up 30%. Bloomberg reports that the surge at the start of Asian trading on Tuesday was likely triggered by automated software set up to execute a $100 million trade across three exchanges, according to Oliver von Landsberg-Sadie, chief executive officer of London-based crypto firm BCB Group.

Hilarious Gizmodo article, sorry if this is a repost
April 02, 2019 7:27 PM Bitcoin, the most popular cryptocurrency in the world, jumped to a four-month high overnight, briefly breaching $5,000 on the Bitstamp exchange. Bitcoin is up roughly 15% on the day and traders are excited because it really seems like nobody learned their lesson during the last cryptocurrency bubble. As CNBC notes, ?The reason for the sudden price jump wasn?t immediately clear.? And it would all be pretty funny if it wasn?t so sad. Bitcoin hit a record high of $19,783.06 in December of 2017 after months of hype in the popular press. Plenty of people got in when the cryptocurrency was expensive, and smart people cashed out, leaving average folks with huge losses. By December of 2018, Bitcoin had bottomed out at about $3,400. But it looks like speculators might ride the rollercoaster again.

Crescent Cash Becomes the Third BCH Light Client to Adopt Cash Accounts
April 02, 2019 5:07 PM There?s a new open source bitcoin cash (BCH) wallet called Crescent Cash which uses the Cash Accounts protocol by default. The new application was designed by the programmer Pokkst who built the wallet for simplicity by allowing BCH users to send funds to a specific username as opposed to a long alphanumeric address. Also read: Bitcoin Cash Markets and Network Gather Strong Momentum in Q1 On Monday, April 1, the programmer behind the recently published Bchgallery wallet released a new wallet called Crescent Cash, a light client dedicated to the Cash Accounts username system. Crescent Cash is open source and noncustodial like traditional BCH wallets and the application also supports the standard BCH address format Cashaddr. The application?s first release for Android is available on the Google Play store and Pokkst believes the wallet is simple and secure while combining the ?simplicity of traditional, centralized money apps with the security of trustless Bitcoin wallets.? Pokkst explained on the Reddit forum r/btc that he spent a few sleepless nights powered by soda while he was coding up the application for release.

Bitcoin Has Intrinsic Value in Accordance With The First Law of Economics
April 02, 2019 4:37 PM For anything to have a price, it must meet the prerequisites of being rare, states Walras Law. According to the director at Colombo Investimentos, Eloy Rodrigo Colombo, the first law of economics is quite powerful in defining characteristics of bitcoin. While bitcoin (BTC) is seen as an investment opportunity by some, it is considered more than a cryptocurrency by many. The credit goes to its intrinsic value and revolutionary disruptive capabilities which are more promising than fiat. Eloy suggested that one thing is rare if it?s scarce, can be owned and is useful to at least one person. After explaining the criterion to be rare, Eloy suggested that things have a price only if they fall within the criterion. During the exploration of bitcoin?s intrinsic value, Eloy maintained that the value of a thing is always relative. He extended his argument to bitcoin and compared it with other things whose intrinsic value are known like metals including gold and silver, a company?s stocks, state-backed currencies and other cryptocurrencies. After comparison, he concluded that as bitcoin is scarce, useful and capable of being owned, it does have intrinsic value in accordance with the first law of economics.

Massive Bitcoin Whale Triggered BTC Surge With $100 Million Order, Says Crypto Investment Firm CEO
April 02, 2019 11:23 AM The CEO of cryptocurrency firm BCB Group says Bitcoin?s massive pump was triggered by a single Bitcoin whale, in a coordinated effort to buy nearly $100 million worth of BTC across three crypto exchanges. Oliver von Landsberg-Sadie told Reuters a 20,000 BTC buying spree executed simultaneously on Coinbase, Kraken and Bitstamp is largely responsible for the surge, which briefly boosted the price of BTC above $5,000. ?There has been a single order that has been algorithmically-managed across these three venues, of around 20,000 BTC. If you look at the volumes on each of those three exchanges ? there were in-concert, synchronized, units of volume of around 7,000 BTC in an hour.?

Bitcoin soared above $5050 , early Tuesday touches its best level since November,a sign finally out from bear market
April 02, 2019 10:42 AM Bitcoin fly more than 24% Tuesday morning to above $5,050, its best level since November 2018. staying above $5050 is a good guster, however, and the cryptocurrency was trading up about 15% near $4,888. ?It looks like April Fools? Day put the community in good mood,? said Mati Greenspan, a senior market analyst at eToro. ?The price passed the $4300 level to the upside overnight, a dramatic level that the market has been waiting for a while. At this point, stop losses triggered a chain reaction and sent the price soaring. At the moment, bitcoin is trading above the 200-day moving average and if we see the price hold above $4,300 going forward, it could be a sign that we are finally out of the bearish market.

Bitcoin Pushing Resistance As Transactions Ramp Up, Are We Set for A Break Out
April 02, 2019 12:21 AM Bitcoin has been pushing higher highs and testing the 4200 resistance again, will we see a breakout finally? Global market-cap has continued to rise again, up to $147bln today - with BTC dominance remaining at the 50% level. BTCUSD price action has been rising consistently during March and is now approaching the last high from back in February. Crypto markets are heating up in general with Alt-coins seeing frequent gains during the past weeks, today IOST is the leading gainer - with a 23% rally over the last 24 hours. Data from Blockchain.com Bitcoin transactions have spiked up to near the previous all time highs of 420k, with the current transactions at 393k per day, with the transactions per second (TPS) wavering between 3 to 4 TPS currently. Although over the past months what has become more frequent is large spikes in transactional activity, with a record spike only a few days ago hitting a high of 29 TPS. Data from Blockchain.com With the advent of more easy access to Bitcoin ATMs, Casa Node for lightning network and integration with popular apps like cash.app, it seems adoption is primed to grow during 2019. As Bitcoin scales larger and becomes more prevalent in society, we can expect to see even more spikes of new highs in transactions per second. Whilst at the same time we know the halving is coming soon in 2020, everything is setting up nicely for a very exciting time for Bitcoin believers and investors in the space!
