Bitcoin Listed As Top Priority By OCIE (SEC)
The US Securities and Exchange Commission?s Office of Compliance Inspections (OCIE) and Examinations have recently published their examination priorities for 2019 in which cryptocurrencies make an appearance. The OCIE has made indications that it will be keeping an eye on the crypto space, especially digital assets which qualify as securities throughout the year. The OCIE highlighted that the digital assets markets have grown at such a speed over the past few years that investors are put at risk - this includes cryptocurrency too. In addition to this, they also suggested that the overall size of the market and its participants, including trading platforms, broker-dealers and investment advisors are continuously growing as well. The OCIE said that they are going onto ?monitor the offer and sale, trading, and management of digital assets, and where the products are securities, examine for regulatory compliance.?

Winklevoss Twins Call for Crypto Regulations, Says Bitcoin Can Overtake Gold
The bearish sentiment currently characterizing the cryptocurrency markets may dissuade some investors, but not Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss. The two are now suggesting that digital currency has a bright future ahead ? as long as it is properly regulated. Formerly of Facebook notoriety ? following their legal feud with Mark Zuckerberg ? the twins are now best known for Gemini. For those unaware, Gemini is a cryptocurrency exchange platform launched by the two. The Winklevosses have also long been outspoken Bitcoin supporters. They are now, however, branching out beyond the core Gemini activity in an effort to launch a campaign promoting cryptocurrency regulations.

This Price Resistance Level May Hold Key to Bitcoin Bull Market
That bitcoin (BTC) may be closing on a long-term bottom is generally accepted by now. After all, the leading cryptocurrency by market value has dropped by close to 70 percent over the last 13 months. The challenge now is to pick up early signs of a long-term bearish-to-bullish trend change, which may be possible with the help of the 10-week simple moving average (SMA). Acting as resistance, that moving average proved a tough nut to crack in the eight weeks to Nov. 14 ? the day BTC reentered the bear market with a big drop below $6,000. Further, BTC has charted bearish-lower highs above the 10-week SMA in the last 13 months. Hence, acceptance above that hurdle could be considered a sign that the process of bearish-to-bullish trend change has begun.

History Indicates Bitcoin Bull Run Is On The Way
2018 was basically a long string of price drops and a massive downtrend across the 12 months. Since the start of last year, Bitcoin investors (and the market as a whole) were caught up in this as well as endless accounts of fraud and hacks, fake news, and numerous speculation theories. With this, the community of investors has been left behind who either suspect that the speculation will push the markets back to where they were during the all-time highs or they eagerly believe in the technology. Even though the bear market still has a firm grip on the market and it has been very tough for beginner investors, if history repeats itself, then a bull run is right around the corner?

Help This Bitcoin Baby Go To College
The Times is one of the biggest newspapers in the United Kingdom. Recently, in the ?Births, Marriages and Death? section of the paper, there was an announcement from a couple who had given birth to a little girl called Izabella. However, there was something different about the announcement of Izabellas birth to the other thousand or so births that The Times reports every year as Izabella?s parents were asking for Bitcoin donation for the baby?s college fund. Wioletta and Peter?s little bundle of joy have given them the incentive to ask the world for Bitcoin so they will be able to afford Izabellas college fund. Higher education is usually an expensive feat and in the UK that is no exception as university/college can cost around £50,000 for a three-year bachelor?s degree in the UK. Now if you take into consideration the relatively low price of Bitcoin at the moment, this could be the perfect time to start asking people for donations.

St Louis Federal Reserve on intrinsic value of Bitcoin
What are the long-run prospects of Bitcoin as an investment? The bullish case is that Bitcoin will appreciate indefinitely due to its capped supply and an ever-growing demand. The bearish case is that Bitcoin's price will fall to zero, as it's an intrinsically worthless asset. We think the future price path is more likely to remain bounded between these two extremes.  Consider first the bullish case for Bitcoin. We think this idea is too optimistic even if one grants that its supply is fixed and its demand is likely to grow.1 The U.S. dollar price of Bitcoin will also depend on how its exchange rate relative to other cryptocurrencies evolves over time in the face of an ever-expanding supply of alternative cryptocurrencies, which we refer to as Altcoin.2

Bitcoin Price Analysis: Short-term BTC/USD Breakout Seems Imminent
When looking at the overall cryptocurrency market, it is evident most altcoins and tokens require positive Bitcoin price momentum to achieve an uptrend. Unfortunately, the world?s leading cryptocurrency hasn?t done great in this regard. Traders are not too certain what to make of the market, although a potential short-term price increase seems plausible at this stage. After the most recent market dip, traders and speculators have become even more wary of Bitcoin than before. The past twelve months have not been too great for Bitcoin, as its value has continued to drop over time. Moreover, any attempt at a market recovery has been pushed down in a rather volatile manner. As such, there is a lot of uneasy Bitcoin price momentum in place right now and one that leaves traders scratching their head.

Why Bitcoin cannot be threatened by Quantum Computing attacks
Home » Quantum Computers Do Not Threaten Bitcoin (And Maybe Never Will) Quantum computers have long been dubbed as the Achilles? heel of Bitcoin and the whole cryptocurrency industry. As the name itself suggests, the whole industry revolves around cryptography. This is how a decentralized system can actually be built ? using cryptographic methods to shield users from attacks, misappropriation and counterfeit. Bitcoin and all of the other cryptocurrencies represent a piece of software that has certain rules to enable a specific kind of trustless system for its users. If these rules are in any way broken, then the software becomes unreliable and unusable. As such, any value the software might provide to its users immediately vanishes.

Bitcoin as Money
Everyone uses money in order to obtain services and goods they need. Throughout history, a broad spectrum of objects (such as precious metals, livestock, seeds, etc.) have been used as money. In the relatively recent past, however, paper money emerged as the most prevalent and preferred form of money. With the rise of the internet and advancements made in cryptography, we may be witnessing a crucial period in time when Bitcoin and various other digital currencies will start presenting a challenge to paper money dominance. Every form of money has to tick three important boxes before it can be widely used in a society. It has to function as a store of value, since it has to retain value long enough to be practical for its users. If you earn 50 dollars today, you have a certain expectation that in a week, or even in a year, its purchasing power remains more or less the same. However, sooner or later, inflation erodes the value of a single unit of money, thus making fiat money a bad option for long-term saving.

Bitcoin (BTC) Price Analysis January 15
BTC/USD 1D Chart / Bitfinex / Bitcoin Price Analysis Following the correction move, it seems ended. The strong $4200 lies the battle. Once broken, a bullish trend is signaled. Watch out! Resistance levels: $4300, $5600, $6500 Support levels: $3200, $2800, $2500, From the structural appearance: Bitcoin is yet to signal the much-anticipated bull-run. At the 2018 low ($3100), the green bars shoots to $4200. Since then, the price has been flagging to the trend line; the daily MACD just swing low to the negative. Yesterday, the price shoots to $3800 after sitting at $3500 on the trend line. This could be a bullish signal. But until $4200 strong resistance is broken before another uptrend could be confirmed which might last to $5600 resistance. As of now, the bearish scenario is still dominant.

'Bitcoin Baby' Needs Money for College
In a recent issue of the UK newspaper The Times, in the "Births, Marriages and Death" section, there was an announcement from a couple who had given birth to a baby girl (Izabella). There was one thing, though, that distinguished this announcement from the other thousand or so birth announcements in The Times every year: the couple was asking for Bitcoin (BTC) donations for the baby's "college fund." Here is a photo of this announcement from a Bitcoin.com news report: As you can see, it seems that the parents, Wioletta and Peter, decided that, given the high cost of a college education (around $50,000 for a three-year Bachelor's degree in the UK) and the current relatively low price of Bitcoin, this might be a perfect time to start asking people for donations in Bitcoin for the college fund of baby Izabella (who was born on January 6th, just three days Bitcoin's 10th birthday).
