Ethereum price surges over 13% in 24 hours Ethereum price surges over 13% in 24 hours
February 18, 2019 5:32 PM At the end of the weekend and into Monday, the Ethereum price pumped from $123 to $144, a 13 percent move against the U.S. dollar. Some analysts believe the 5th February drop to $100 might have been the bottom for Ethereum in 2019. Cryptocurrency trader DonAlt commented on twitter: ?Well, this is a proper moon. Not a big liq. spike but rather a nice controlled walk up. Didn?t expect quite this much action into the weekend but I?m not complaining. ETH as the top gainer on Mex. Right at resistance here ? will be interesting if it can break through or not.? Well, this is a proper moon. Not a big liq. spike but rather a nice controlled walk up. Analyst Research: A Comparative Study Between PrimeXBT and BitMEX Analyst Research: A Comparative Study Between PrimeXBT and BitMEX
February 17, 2019 8:30 PM The current crypto winter of 2018-2019 has brought with it a number of dramatic changes to the cryptocurrency market. Some altcoins have fallen over 90% from their all-time high. Crypto firms have been forced to lay off employees and restructure. And gone are the days when investors would simply HODL their assets and reap enormous gains. With profits far more difficult to come by using traditional strategies, many traders have turned to BitMEX due to the platform offering advanced trading features such as 100x leverage and the ability to short-sell assets and profit off of falling crypto prices.

Ultimate Ethereum DApp Tutorial Ultimate Ethereum DApp Tutorial
February 13, 2019 2:39 PM Hey everybody, it?s Gregory from Dapp University! Today I'm going to show you how to build your first decentralized application, or dApp, on the Ethereum blockchain. I'll show you how to write your first Ethereum smart contract, where we'll hold an election between two candidates. We'll write tests against the smart contract, deploy it to the Ethereum blockchain, and develop a client-side application that allows accounts to cast votes. We'll also examine key concepts like "what is a blockchain?", "what is a smart contract?", and "how does a dApp work?". You can watch me build the full decentralized application in the 2-hour video above. I'll also guide you through the step-by-step instructions in this tutorial. Before we start building our dApp, let's examine some key concepts. If you are eager to start coding, feel free to skip ahead to the next part of the tutorial. ?

BCH Avalanche Transactions Show Finality Speeds 10x Faster Than Ethereum BCH Avalanche Transactions Show Finality Speeds 10x Faster Than Ethereum
February 11, 2019 3:07 AM Over the last few weeks, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) developers and community members have been discussing a pre-consensus method called Avalanche. Now BCH proponents have begun to notice the protocol has been applied to the Bchd full node implementation and the proof of concept officially running on the BCH mainnet. Also read: Mt. Gox Creditors Neither Need nor Deserve This Kind of ?Hero? The Avalanche proof-of-concept is a consensus algorithm that adds Byzantine fault tolerant proofs to a blockchain network so nodes can differentiate between two conflicting transactions. The protocol communicates with nodes in real time in order to bring consensus in a more efficient manner. This is because Avalanche queries the network of nodes and asks them to come to pre-consensus on which of the two conflicting transactions are preferred.

Binance moves away from Ethereum as it prepares to launch DEX Binance moves away from Ethereum as it prepares to launch DEX
February 07, 2019 8:11 PM Binance is moving its token off of Ethereum as it prepares to launch its own decentralized exchange. Binance DEX?s testnet built on top of Binance Chain is set to launch ?in the next week or two? according to Binance CEO Changpeng ?CZ? Zhao. In a Q&A live stream on Thursday, CZ revealed details about the launch of Binance Chain. Binance Coin (BNB), which was issued in the company?s $15 million ICO in 2017, will be migrated from an ERC20 token and act as the native gas of Binance Chain. Binance Chain was built on Cosmos? Tendermint protocol because its architecture was closest to what Binance was looking for, according to CZ. It will use Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) and Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT). Binance forked Tendermint ?and chopped a lot of things out? including smart contracts because high throughput was more important than feature richness, according to CZ. The interface will allow projects to issue new tokens on Binance Chain, effectively running an ICO by raising funds in BNB.

Geth v1 Geth v1
January 31, 2019 3:09 PM Create your free GitHub account today to subscribe to this repository for new releases and build software alongside 28 million developers. Geth v1.8.22 re-enables all Constantinople changes and contains an additional fork, Petersburg, to disable EIP-1283. This procedure is meant to ease the transition on networks like Ropsten where the Constantinople transition had already taken place when an issue with EIP-1283 was discovered. On the main network, Constantinople and Petersburg activate at the same time. Note that the Petersburg change is set to activate simultaneously with Constantinople unless configured otherwise. If you are running a private network, you must schedule the Petersburg fork through chain configuration before updating to v1.8.22 if Constantinople has already activated on your network.

The Ethereum Virtual Machine How does it work The Ethereum Virtual Machine How does it work
January 30, 2019 12:21 AM If you?ve tried developing a smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain, or have been in the space for a while, you might have come across the term ?EVM?, short for Ethereum Virtual Machine. Virtual machines are essentially creating a level of abstraction between the executing code and the executing machine. This layer is needed to improve the portability of software, as well as making sure applications are separated from each other, and separated from their host. Smart contracts are often written in a programming language called ?Solidity?, a language similar to JavaScript and C++. Other languages for writing smart contracts include Vyper and Bamboo. Before Solidity was released, other languages like Serpent (deprecated) and Mutan (deprecated) were used.

New analysis from AI-powered blockchain investigator ORS CryptoHound has uncovered unusual activity on the Ethereum blockchain, which took place last month. ORS CryptoHound took a look at the one hundred largest Ethereum transactions for the last quarter of last year and, in doing so, found a strange pattern in the blockchain?s wealthy elite: Clearly, the transactions from the six wealthiest wallets in question were all coordinated ? but why?

Here are the best courses and resources for beginners to learn Solidity Here are the best courses and resources for beginners to learn Solidity
January 27, 2019 2:16 PM Solidity learning resources are not that well-known. Here?s a useful list for learning solidity and Ethereum development. First of all???what is solidity? ?Solidity is a contract-oriented, high-level language for implementing smart contracts. It was influenced by C++, Python and JavaScript. It is designed to target the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).? In a nutshell, Ethereum is a blockchain-based distributed ledger which keeps track of all the states/transactions. A single entity (computer) is called a node. All nodes combined creates the Ethereum network. Think of Ethereum as this ?super-computer? and solidity a way to give instructions to the ?super-computer?.

Why Ethereum 1 Why Ethereum 1
January 25, 2019 1:53 AM Ethereum 1.0 wouldn?t be undergoing a complete redesign unless it had major flaws. So how did we get here? And why did Bitcoin seem to fare much better? Two important factors are user experience and economics. At at minimum, for a product to succeed it needs to be a compelling alternative to an existing problem, and the transaction fee must not exceed the economic value of the actual transactions. Together these point to an upwards trajectory for Bitcoin and a downwards trajectory for Ethereum 1.0. There?s a saying that for one product to replace another with network effects, it needs to be ten times better. Specifically it must be good enough to justify the painful switching costs. Here we examine that first competitor and if those improvements could arguably be called a 10x better experience.
