Qubic status update February 3rd 2019 IOTA
February 05, 2019 8:15 PM Hey everyone, sorry for the small delay in getting this status update out. We will still call it the February 3rd status update because I did not have the heart to ask Sabri to redo this gorgeous image. Did you know that Sabri provides a fresh image for every status update? He is responsible for most of the house style and doing such an amazing job at it. Funny in a way that the person responsible for our visuals is one of our least visible team members. Anyway, January was a month of steady progress. A number of components are coming together nicely and we are getting more and more community involvement.

Updated article on how to securely hold IOTA, adding a quick guide on how to move from Light Wallet to Trinity
January 26, 2019 11:29 AM Subscribe to the Altcoin Trading newsletter. (Newsletter Archive) IOTA is a transactional and data transfer layer aiming at the Internet of Things. It uses a distributed ledger called Tangle which scales better than Blockchain - the more it is used the more efficient it gets. The tangle ledger is based on distributed technology called DAG (directed acyclic graph). Each transaction forms its own ?block? and is essentially verified by itself. In order to put your transaction through you have to verify two other randomly chosen older transactions in the network. This is done with help of a very simple version of proof-of-work but the effort the POW algo needs to execute is so small that the transaction cost is essentially zero.

IOTA Entangled Update Jan
January 23, 2019 6:17 PM As the New Year begins it is a great time to plan the future of Entangled. First, what is Entangled? Entangled is a monorepo for all things Tangle that add functionality for operating IOTA in C/C++. If you would like to keep up to date with the project, the repo can be found and starred here: https://github.com/iotaledger/entangled Why make IOTA C-based? The primary reason is our focus on the Internet of Things (IoT). Many of these small form-factor devices run on very efficient and small program sizes which are C-based. To make IOTA the leading Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) for IoT, it is a natural step for the Foundation to provide support for them.

United Nations Calls Bitcoin and Crypto 'New Frontier' in Finance, Explores Ripple and IOTA Technologies
January 21, 2019 12:35 AM In a year-end report on the global economy, the United Nations calls cryptocurrency a ?new frontier? in digital finance. According to the UN, crypto and blockchain technology at large have the potential to create new and revolutionary business models that cut red tape and dramatically increase efficiency. This is not the first time the UN has expressed its interest in digital assets. In May, the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) revealed its collaboration with IOTA to ?explore how IOTA?s innovative technology ? which provides an open-source distributed ledger for data management ? can increase the efficiency of UNOPS operations.? UNOPS is also exploring Ripple?s suite of cross-border payment solutions, according to a report from the Association for Financial Professionals from late 2017.

IOTA (MIOTA) ICO Rating, Reviews and Details | ICOholder Select widget Notification icon
January 17, 2019 5:35 PM IOTA is a revolutionary new, next generation public distributed ledger that utilizes a novel invention, called a ?Tangle?, at its core. The Tangle is a new data structure based on a Directed Acyclic Graph. As such it has no Blocks, no Chain and also no Miners. Because of this radical new architecture, things in IOTA work quite differently compared to other Blockchains. A Tangle is a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) Attention. There is a risk that unverified members are not actually members of the team IOTA is traded like a traditional cryptocurrency, but it?s really meant to host machine-to-machine transactions in the Internet of Things. It?s aiming for a huge market, but that market requires precision, as human lives are at stake. It?s not going alone, though ? IOTA has high-profile strategic partnerships in place. MIOTA is the official coin of IOTA, a new cryptocurrency designed for IoT efficiency. IoT is a huge market that includes everything from consumer devices to enterprises and entire cities. Several security vulnerabilities have been addressed in IOTA, and it?s unclear how stable and secure the platform will be when implemented in a live environment. IOTA has no miners/mining, and blocks, transaction limits, and fees have been removed to accommodate M2M transactions. Because of its focus on IoT, IOTA has a fighting chance at differentiating itself in the crypto market. The team does spark fiery debates in tech circles and has made some questionable decisions, but the IoT market is one of the largest opportunities for crypto-technology ? if they get it right, IOTA could one day be the Google of little bitty things talking to each other. Or it could be Skynet. Either way, IOTA is a crypto to give an iota of thought to in coming years. Should you buy MIOTA? Check the cryptocurrency news coverage and blockchain technology press for IOTA?s progress and the latest MIOTA price.

January 17, 2019 2:58 PM IOTA is an open-source distributed ledger protocol that goes 'beyond blockchain' through its core invention of the blockless ?Tangle?. The IOTA Tangle is a quantum-proof Directed Acyclic Graph, with no fees on transactions & no fixed limit on how many transactions can be confirmed per second in the network. Instead, throughput grows in conjunction with activity in the network; the more activity, the faster the network. Unlike blockchain architecture, IOTA has no separation between users and validators; rather, validation is an intrinsic property of using the ledger, thus avoiding centralization. IOTA is initially focused on serving as the backbone of the emerging Internet-of-Things (IoT).

IOTA MAM Ultra Lite in Python
January 16, 2019 10:22 PM Inspired by MAM Lite protocol, a light-weight alternative to MAM streams in IOTA, written by Samuel Rufinatscha I decided to re-implement it in Python. Doing so I stumbled into a few limitations, originated from RSA signature scheme used in MAML and therefore I opted to switch to another signature scheme, Ed25519 (the one that NANO uses). It has much shorter public keys and signatures and thus provides several advantages, that will be discussed later. As the result of an effort there is MAML_Ed25519 protocol library (no, not MAMUL ?), you can checkout the code and examples here. Apart from using a different signature scheme, it has the similar features:

These tiny Bluetooth chips that will run off of electricity pulled from the air
January 15, 2019 5:26 PM The Internet of Things promises to connect billions of otherwise ordinary devices to the internet, but when each one needs to have its own battery, there?s a limit to how small or cheap they can become. A new paper-thin Bluetooth chip that?s able to operate entirely without a battery could be about to solve this problem. The postage stamp-sized chip from Wiliot is able to harvest energy from the ambient radio frequencies around us, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular signals, and use them to power a Bluetooth-equipped ARM processor that can be connected to a variety of sensors. Wiliot says that the size of the Bluetooth chip, combined with the lack of any battery, means it can be produced cheaply and mounted on almost anything. The company gives several potential use cases for the technology. For example, it could be embedded in consumer products to provide easy access to a digital manual when the original paper version is long lost, or it could be put on a clothing label and used to communicate the optimal settings to a washing machine.

IBM Quantum computer (nothing to do with IOTA, but proves this kind of machinery is on the way)
January 15, 2019 3:30 PM The Q System One -- it might not be the full future quantum computer, but it does look like it. IBM IBM has unveiled its first quantum computer system designed for commercial use, which will allow customers to perform quantum calculations over the Internet. The device is not yet capable of outperforming classical computers, but it does look like it?s straight out of a sci-fi movie with its sleek design and simple name ? IBM?s Q System One. The computer is encased in an airtight borosilicate glass cube with 2.7-meter (9-foot) sides. It is kept at an extremely low temperature in an isolated environment, which is necessary for this kind of tech. Quantum computers don?t work on regular bits (the one and zeros) but with qubits, particular quantum states that can harness quantum properties such as superposition.

IOTA Proof of Work: Remote Vs Local explained
January 14, 2019 12:21 PM A proof of work is a piece of data which is difficult (costly, time-consuming) to produce but easy for others to verify and which satisfies certain requirements. The purpose of Proof of Work is to prevent spam. IOTA ledger is secured by a heavily distributed form of CCurl Proof of Work. The IoT devices create signed transactions and compute a Proof of Work in a distributed fashion. Without going in-depth of an IOTA transaction mechanics, we will see how a transaction is created to understand where PoW comes into play. To create a transaction: First, we construct a transaction bundle. The bundle groups together all the individual transactions which relate to a single intent of value transfer. The constructed bundle is signed with your private keys.
