The Nano Foundation is passionate in the mission to see Nano widely used as a global digital currency. We understand that professionally conducted, independent security audits are essential to ensure the code and infrastructure related to the node meets the security requirements expected of a global currency. The process of securing an effective audit of the Nano protocol involved finding a reputable cybersecurity firm possessing sufficient knowledge of cryptography. In September 2018 we concluded that Red4Sec were sufficiently qualified to provide these services and contracted them to conduct a full audit of the Nano protocol and consensus algorithm. The following details provide a summary of the first security audit performed on the Nano node source code. This share was first found by us on February 02, 2019 5:04 PM. The team at QtumX, an Enterprise blockchain solution developed by Qtum, announced on January 22 that they had successfully passed the 10k TPS barrier in stress tests. The team mentioned that in addition to achieving this critical amount of processed transactions, it should also be noted that the blockchain implemented efficient management of resources, avoiding the generation of empty blocks when there are no transactions between peers: ?Generated blocks and transactions are shown as follows. You can see that there are five blocks containing more than 10,000 transactions: height 1461, 1459, 1445, 1439, and 1433. This proves QtumX is able to handle more than 10,000 TPS. When there is no transaction, QtumX stops producing new blocks which saves storage and network resources.? This share was first found by us on January 25, 2019 3:52 PM. Launched in 2015 by Colin LeMahieu as RaiBlocks, Nano is a low-latency payment platform that requires minimal resources; making Nano ideal for peer-to-peer transactions. INSTANT TRANSACTIONS Nano transactions happen immediately, so it's a currency you can use every day for purchases large or small. ZERO FEES Pay for the purchase, not the privilege ? zero fees on whatever you buy, from bus ticket to business class flight. INFINITY SCALABLE Nano can process over 1000x more transactions per second than Bitcoin, so you'll never get stuck in a queue. EACH ACCOUNT HAS THEIR OWN BLOCKCHAIN With Nano, each account has their own blockchain as part of a larger directed acyclic graph. Each individual user provides the computational power for the verification of their own transactions, meaning entire network is not required to update the overall ledger together in massive blocks. WALLETS PRE-CACHE THE ANTI-SPAM PROOF-OF-WORK Wallets pre-cache the anti-spam Proof of Work for the next transaction once a transaction is sent, making transactions instantaneous, as both sides have the proof of work ready to go. RUNNING A NODE COSTS NEXT TO NOTHING Because the protocol is incredibly lightweight and running a node costs next to nothing, Nano?s transactions are processed with no fees. One transaction fits within a single UDP packet, and transactions are handled independently, eliminating any block size issue. This item was first seen by us on January 17, 2019 2:44 PM. Ledger Nano X & Bluetooth Security Model of a Wireless Hardware Wallet Ledger Nano X & Bluetooth Security Model of a Wireless Hardware Wallet
Ledger recently announced the launch of the Ledger Nano X. This new product is built around a new hardware architecture, while taking advantage of our versatile security Operating System BOLOS. The Ledger Nano X features Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity enabling it to be used with Android or iOS devices without the need of a cable. While this feature greatly improves the user experience, it raised some concerns about the security of the wireless connection. We would like to address these. Let?s discuss in more detail how it works and why it does not impact the security model of this hardware wallet. This posting was obtained by us on January 15, 2019 7:41 PM. Without minimum purchase requirement Multi-language support with 10 crypto-experts Your private key giving access to your coins is never exposed. It is protected within a secure chip locked by a PIN code, the same type of chip used for passports and credit cards. While many hardware wallets on the market feature a ?simple? chip, all Ledger hardware wallets are equipped with a ?smartcard chip?, that include a secure element. This kind of chip is used for highly secure applications, such as protecting biometric data on passports or credit card information. Concretely, a secure-element chip is a tamper-resistant hardware platform, capable of securely hosting applications and storing confidential and cryptographic data. In other words, secure element chips are extremely difficult and costly to hack, while ?simple? chips, even with software protection, require much less effort. These chips undergo advanced third-party evaluation and certification processes, through certification bodies such as Common Criteria and EMVCo, to attest of their robustness & security. Additionally, Ledger has developed its own secure element operating system, named BOLOS - a flexible and open system making it easy to support many crypto assets. This enables Ledger hardware wallets to offer a unique blend of cutting-edge security (secure element) and user convenience (BOLOS), while making sure your crypto assets can resist even sophisticated attacks. Ledger Launches Portable Hardware Wallet, Nano X Ledger Launches Portable Hardware Wallet, Nano X
Popular hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger have announced a new version of their Nano device. The new product introduces bluetooth compatibility, pairing with the users mobile phone to allow secure access to cryptocurrencies on the move as well as at home. This replaces the existing wired device, that must be connected directly to a computer. With the Nano X, users will be able to send, receive and check crypto balances on the fly, accessing their funds with the Ledger Live mobile app. Alongside portability, the new device promises to address long-standing issues with the existing Nano. Users of the old device were only able to access any four cryptocurrencies at once, due to limited storage space. Although all cryptocurrencies could be safely stored, users had to spend time shuffling their devices, deleting apps to make room. This posting was first seen by us on January 11, 2019 5:15 PM. Introducing Nano X, Ledger s Bluetooth-Ready Mobile Crypto Wallet Introducing Nano X, Ledger s Bluetooth-Ready Mobile Crypto Wallet
Crypto wallet company Ledger has moved into the mobile space revealing their new, Bluetooth capable Nano X device yesterday at the yearly Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The addition of Bluetooth gives the Nano X the ability to be readily used with mobile devices, a missing feature from the company?s current wallet, the Ledger S. Most people in the world primarily use mobile devices with many never or very rarely making use of desktop or laptops. Ledger CEO Eric Larchevêque had this say to during a demonstration of the device: ?The fact that we have a mobile application and it works with the Nano X is really the big evolution of the hardware for this lineup.? By connecting via Bluetooth using the Nano X, it?s now possible to enjoy the security of Ledger coupled with mobile?s form factor, said Larchevêque. As we know, Ledger devices are used to store keys, but to send and write transactions, an external application on a computing device is required. When speaking to the press, Larchevêque said that he wasn?t ready to commit to a price for the Nano X but did confirm that when it launches that the cost of the Nano S will drop. According to Ledger?s website, the company has sold more than 1.3 million Nano S devices to date. That?s not all, the new device sports a slightly larger screen which is excellent as every extra pixel aids in overall usability. The screen is an essential feature because Ledger?s security requires that many actions are carried out on the device itself. ?It?s a more advanced device,?  said Larchevêque of the Nano X. The Ledger Live application will be available for download on Google Play and iTunes as of January 16 according to Ledger. More Apps! The device also boasts significantly more memory. While memory might not seem an essential feature for a hardware wallet, it actually is. Why? As more and more new tokens make the crypto space more complex, it becomes necessary for various kinds of software to interact with different protocols. For Ledger to maintain their high-security standards, they made the decision that each various protocol requires its own application for the sending and receiving of tokens. A Look Back at 2018: The Year of Nano (NANO) Adoption What Can We Expect in 2019 A Look Back at 2018: The Year of Nano (NANO) Adoption What Can We Expect in 2019
The deluge of new cryptocurrencies over the last couple of years has left a bitter taste in the mouth for many. With so many new coins appearing on a regular basis, alongside semi-regular reports of exit scams and other shenanigans, enthusiasm for speculating has faded amongst many investors. This increased skepticism has led to an over-zealous application of the old adage ?if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is?. Nano (NANO/BTC) is one of those crypto tokens that on paper seems to have it all. Transactions on the network are virtually instantaneous and there are no fees involved. Mining is performed using a small amount of computational power provided by users as they participate in transactions, resulting in an almost imperceptible cost in terms of energy. Add to this that Nano is fantastically scalable (each Nano represents 1024Raw) and you have the trifecta of a winning formula. This posting was first found by us on January 10, 2019 3:40 AM.
