Bitcoin's Long Road to Privacy Bitcoin's Long Road to Privacy
April 22, 2019 3:18 AM Bitcoin is a terrible money for criminals. The asset?s loose pseudonymity makes it relatively easy to identify someone?s address and transactions. But it?s not just criminals that should want privacy. Privacy is important beyond its direct implications. Fungibility is one of the key properties of sound money. This refers to the property whereby all coins appear identical in an economy and are therefore interchangeable. Without fungibility, it?s possible to trace coins back to their previous owners. If you happen to have bitcoin that was previously owned by a criminal, then an exchange may refuse to accept your deposit, essentially making it worth less than untainted coins, such as freshly minted coinbase bitcoins.

I decided to make a wee Easter egg hunt - except you're looking for parts of a private key instead of eggs I decided to make a wee Easter egg hunt - except you're looking for parts of a private key instead of eggs
April 22, 2019 2:13 AM If you're new to bitcoin or are confused about anything, I suggest reading everything below... Firstly, you might be wondering what a 'bitcoin private key' is. So just for reference, here's an example: L2TPFHmqCsgiLtbLTwnV7qHPAu6SvYPcmF25oipg1bhBLL4q6wJ9 Yep, it's just a string of 52 random characters which allows you to control the bitcoin attached to it. That's what you're trying to piece together by watching this video... If you think you've figured out all 52 characters of my private key, but you don't understand how to use it to claim your bitcoin prize, just follow this step-by-step guide: To claim the bitcoin, you must send it from my private key to a new private key - one which only you/your computer know. If you don't send the bitcoin to your own private key, anyone else who might manage to figure out my private key from the clues in the video will be able to take it for themselves. The easiest way to send the bitcoin from my private key to a new one is by setting up a bitcoin wallet and 'sweeping' the funds from my private key to your own wallet. To do this, first you need to download a bitcoin wallet. I recommend downloading the Electrum Bitcoin Wallet. You can get it here: https://electrum.org/#download Next you'll need to install Electrum and set up your wallet. It's pretty straightforward, but just to be safe I suggest following this tutorial video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdVlH... Now that your Electrum Bitcoin Wallet is set up, using the menu at the top of your wallet, select the following: Wallet / Private keys / Sweep / *enter my private key into the empty box* / Sweep... If you got my private key wrong, it is likely that the final "Sweep" button will be greyed out. If you are able to click the final "Sweep" button, but you get a pop-up window saying "No inputs found" then you might have typed the private key wrong or someone else might have managed to claim the bitcoin before you. If the private key was correct, you will then need to initialise a transaction. Depending on bitcoin network traffic, it may take some time for the bitcoin to appear in your wallet. Here's a link to my public key so you can check for yourself if there are still funds attached to it or if someone else has already claimed the prize: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/addres... If you have any questions, please leave a comment :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MORE USEFUL LINKS IF YOU'RE NEW TO BITCOIN: - Bitcoin private keys explained: https://coinsutra.com/bitcoin-private... - How to sweep private keys to a bitcoin wallet (using the Electrum Bitcoin Wallet): https://youtu.be/4rfWi9LfySM?t=84 - Want to trade your bitcoin for another currency? Statistics Show Bitcoin Cash Is a Strong Contender After Crypto Winter Statistics Show Bitcoin Cash Is a Strong Contender After Crypto Winter
April 18, 2019 4:48 PM Over the last few weeks, bitcoin cash (BCH) and the network itself have been shining brightly after a year of bearish sentiment and the blockchain split last November. Most notably, this month BCH has shown a significant increase in daily transactions, the price has doubled, and today the network has produced the second highest value of onchain transactions settled in the last 24 hours. Also read: Strong Evidence Suggests a Single Entity Mined More Than 1 Million Bitcoin Bitcoin cash has been on a tear lately and it?s not just the markets that have seen significant improvements. The network itself has shone greatly this month by processing a lot more transactions per day and settling roughly $940 million in onchain value over the last 24 hours. The only cryptocurrency ahead of BCH today is bitcoin core (BTC). BCH has processed 2x more onchain transaction value than ETH and 4x more than LTC. This has been a consistent trend ever since BCH doubled in price not too long ago. In addition to the onchain settlement, cryptocurrency exchanges have been swapping a lot more BCH than they had months prior. Exchanges like Hitbtc, Binance, Coinbene, Lbank, Coinbase, and Huobi are contributing to the $1.2 million in global trades swapped in the last day. Bitcoin cash has also consistently captured the sixth most traded coin by exchange volumes within the entire cryptoconomy for a few weeks in a row.

Bitcoin Trading Volume In Brazil Hits Record Of 100,000 BTC Bitcoin Trading Volume In Brazil Hits Record Of 100,000 BTC
April 18, 2019 9:28 AM Brazil is Latin America?s biggest economy and also one of the key regional players in the cryptocurrency market. The nation reached a new record in Bitcoin trading volume of nearly 100,000 BTC, according to a report by the local analytical tool ?Cointrader Monitor?. The increase in Bitcoin trades on April 10 is linked to a recent jump in the price of this popular cryptocurrency, which now trades comfortably above the BRL 20,000 mark. This price dynamic has presumptuously boosted positive sentiment among cryptocurrency traders, enabling Bitcoin to gain bullish momentum in the local market. Based on Cointrade Monitor?s tool, top Brazilian cryptocurrency exchanges NegocieCoins, TemBTC, and MercadoBitcoin posted record volumes of 57,099 BTC, 41,296 BTC, and 448 BTC respectively on that date. Other minor players, such as bTCBolsa, Bitcoin Trade, Bitcoin Market, BitBlue, 3xBit, and BitCambio also experienced rising volumes.
