Monero's Hashrate Plunges 80% After Asics Hardfork
An incredible 80% of Monero?s computing power has almost instantly vanished after they performed an emergency hardfork to change their Proof of Work (PoW) in order to prevent asics mining. That hardfork has now been implemented and the results are a drop from 1,030 Mh/s to around 157 Mh, before a slight recovery at the time of writing to 270 Mh/s. The currency now appears to have returned back to the computing power it had in around November/December 2017. It?s price then stood at around $100, before it spiked to new highs of $460. Likewise, its hashrate spiked too, but while price crashed down to now around $170, the hasharete remained the same until the PoW hardfork plunged it down by 80%.

Monero Could Be The Coin That Satoshi Visualized Due To Its Privacy-Related Features | Oracle Times
Nakamoto Satoshi is the Bitcoin inventor, and he would be (or is) impressed with the concept that Monero brought to the crypto space. The reason is that the token comes exceptionally close to the whole concept behind Bitcoin. Satoshi envisioned a world in which financial transactions would be anonymous and safe, and this is entirely different from what most pioneer coins such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin have become. These coins are at best pseudonymous mainly because developers want to comply with regulations of existing authorities which is against Satoshi?s dream. Banks and more financial institutions are usually sharing personal data with the other banks, regulators and state authorities without having the consent of their customers.

Monero (XMR) Price Prediction For This Week Remains Bearish - Why Is The XMR Dropping | Oracle Times
Monero (XMR), as well as other significant cryptocurrencies in the market, experienced a very tough period characterized by a strong bearish sentiment. As for this week, the Monero (XMR) price trends are looking gloomy as there is a high probability of a further downtrend. XMR?s distribution regions are set at $150, $178, and $206, while the accumulation zones are at $102, $77, and $45. Monero (XMR) couldn?t break the $150 distribution level against the USD last week because of the formation of a bearish pin bar leading to a strong downtrend for the cryptocurrency. Thus, the price fell towards the $102 accumulation zone.

Monero News: Moneroworld Premium Beta Is A Work In Progress Following The Monerujo Android Mobile App Update | Oracle Times
Moneromooo user coded up a system in which a public remote node user is able to pay the node operator for services with hashes. Everything is detailed on Reddit where we also learn that we can build up the Monero infrastructure and chip away at mining pool centralization. If you want to run you own premium code, you will need ?to compile the share-rpc branch from moneromooo?s repo. NOTE ? this converts your blockchain to V3, and you can?t use the current release software anymore. Conversion can take a while. If you run and offer your own premium node, bind to 18090 (or anything other than 18081 or 18089) ? we don?t want the existing public remote node users encountering this system before they are ready,? according to the post on Reddit.

Monero - Privacy and Anonymity on the Blockchain | CryptoSlate
Fittingly, the exact origin story behind Monero is still somewhat mysterious. Like digital cash, it?s untraceable as it changes hands. The concept behind Monero was first published by Nicolas van Saberhagen. This name was later proven to be a pseudonym and can refer to either an individual creator or developing team. While Nicolas van Saberhagen came up with the idea behind the cryptocurrency, it was coded by a user simply known by their online pseudonym ?thankful_for_today?. Monero was initially called Bitmonero, taking the ?monero? part from Esperanto, where the term means coin. However, after a hard fork in 2014, the cryptocurrency evolved into the Monero that we know today.
