Lost, stolen, or damaged phone : Ethos
Modified on: Fri, 31 Aug, 2018 at 12:15 PM What if someone steals my phone What if I drop it in the toilet These are common questions and valid concerns! But rest assured, your Smart Keys will be protected by a PIN + biometric data (optional) and stored in the cryptographic section of the phone. Okay, so my keys are safe... but I dropped my phone into the toilet and then it was stolen! Is my wallet gone forever No! When you first create your wallet you are given a 24-word phrase, your Smart Key. It is the responsibility of the wallet holder to document the Smart Key words and store that in a safe place, this is made clear to the customer when they first create their wallet. If your phone dies or disappears, you can easily regenerate your wallet and private keys on a new device by using the seed! This information was first seen by us on 2019-01-17 16:22:09. Smart Keys : Ethos
Modified on: Fri, 13 Jul, 2018 at 1:20 PM A Smart Key is a single key that provides access to all of your wallets. The Smart Key is always held by the user and is protected by a backup key that can be written down and stored as a paper wallet. Aside from your paper copy, your Smart Key is stored in the cryptographic section of your phone and protected by: your phone's lockscreen pin/passphrase; your Universal Wallet pin; and optionally another layer of biometric authentication. Your smart key will never touch the internet and is not stored by Ethos. Ethos cannot authorize or spend any of your funds without your Smart Key. Your Smart Key is tied to your password and your backup key so that you always have secure access to your funds wherever you go. This data was obtained by us on 2019-01-17 16:21:55. Are there fees to use the wallet : Ethos
Modified on: Fri, 11 May, 2018 at 3:16 PM The basic functions of the wallet are free to use! Ethos will not charge you to deposit or withdraw your coins. The only costs involved will be the transaction fees that fuel each blockchain, these are sometimes referred to asminer fees. On the Ethereum platform, each transaction that is performed costs gas. This small fee is awarded to miners as compensation for the computational resources they provide the network to process the transaction. Can a Smart Key be generated without shaking the phone : Ethos
Modified on: Tue, 13 Nov, 2018 at 11:16 AM No. Multiple sources of entropy (randomness) are used when generating your SmartKey. One of these sources is from the accelerometer in your phone. Shaking your phone generates data that is used in combination with the other sources of entropy to ensure your SmartKey will be random. You can check the accelerometer of your phone by downloading one of the many apps the Android Play Store and Apple Appstore have to offer. BIP-44 : Ethos
Modified on: Tue, 24 Apr, 2018 at 2:39 PM BIP-44 defines a logical hierarchy for deterministic wallets and expands on the capabilities of the HD wallet as defined in BIP-32 to allow for different coin types (i.e., BTC, ETH, NEO) and accounts. This allows for a single mnemonic phrase (BIP-32/39 and Smart Keys) to be used to recover seemingly infinite wallet addresses that hold assets across different blockchains. For a complete list of registered coin types under BIP-44 check out SLIP-44. Did you find it helpful Yes No This piece was retrieved by us on 2019-01-17 16:19:12.
