Jack Liao is a Shenzhen-based, Chinese software engineer who is better known as the creator of Bitcoin Gold.
Mr. Jack Liao forked Bitcoin Core at block 491,407 and launched Bitcoin Gold in September of 2017. The idea was to create an ASIC-resistant version of Bitcoin that would help decentralize the network due to the large concentration of mining power in a few players’ hands.
The central idea behind Bitcoin Gold was “one CPU one vote”, which resembles Satoshi Nakamoto’s original Bitcoin client where every node mined their own coins and earned rewards for just leaving the Windows software running.
Throughout the intense 2017 debates involving Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold and Bitcoin Core, Mr. Liao frequently found himself in heated discussions with Bitcoin personalities such as Craig Wright and Jihan Wu.
Since 2018, Mr. Liao has kept a low profile, although Bitcoin Gold continues actively developing BTG. Bitcoin Gold also maintains an active presence on social media, although posts are not directly related to Mr. Liao.
In May 2018 Bitcoin Gold got hacked and lost U$ 18 million in funds.
The key to success is the ability to find, develop and deploy effective solutions that benefit the industry and markets. $BTG making progress towards new standards!
